For the first time in two decades, the School of Music brings this classic beacon of the holiday season to the University of Maryland. Glorious and powerful, experience Handel’s music through the combined power of the UMD Chamber Singers, members of the UMD Symphony Orchestra and student and alumni soloists all led by Edward Maclary. Featuring the much-loved “Hallelujah Chorus,” proceeds from this holiday favorite will benefit School of Music student scholarships!

About the ensembles:

Under the baton of new Music Director David Neely, the UMD Symphony Orchestra (UMSO) showcases the orchestral program with uncompromising attention to musical excellence. Pushing the boundaries of the orchestral experience, UMSO presents innovative and electrifying performances of orchestral repertoire both modern and classic.

The UMD choral ensembles have achieved international renown and offer a wide array of choral experiences with music encompassing all styles and eras. Led by Edward Maclary, the UMD Chamber Singers have established an international reputation for excellence, having toured the world while winning top prizes in major competitions and appearing multiple times at the professional conferences of the American Choral Directors Association and the National Collegiate Choral Organization.
