Ever since its premiere caused a near-riot in 1913 Paris, Stravinsky’s provocative work The Rite of Spring has captured the imagination of audiences and artists alike. This striking, visually arresting reinterpretation, staged as a solo contemporary piece, is a collaboration between renowned French choreographer Olivier Dubois and African dance icon Germaine Acogny, who dances this work with a compelling new vision.

Born in Senegal and hailed as the mother of contemporary dance in Africa, 73-year-old Acogny has taught, danced and choreographed on multiple continents. Her storied career has included a role as artistic director of Mudra Afrique, work with Maurice Béjart’s company in Brussels and currently, leadership at the ECOLE DES SABLES.

Dubois, is in the midst of creating a collection of Sacres du Printemps examining different aspects of The Rite of Spring. He is known for his provocative and inventive works.
