The Roshan Institute for Persian Studies presents Hossein Alizadeh, composer and tar player, Hossein Omoumi, composer and ney player, and Pejman Hadadi on tombak and daf.

Through this special concert, Maestros Alizadeh and Omoumi celebrate the life and works of two master musicians of the twentieth century Iran Jalil Shahnaz, Tar (1921-2013) and Hassan Kasai, Ney (1928-2012) who nurtured generations of young musicians.

Kasa’i and Shahnaz were household names with ordinary Iranian music-lovers and a tremendous influence on the way classical Persian music developed in 20th century Iran.

The concert will include reminiscences of these two cherished figures of classical Persian music and performance of some of their most celebrated compositions.
