Celebrating its 10th year, the student-run GSO works to establish video game music as a serious art form and to use that music as a way to bring new and younger audiences to orchestral performances. The GSO is the first collegiate ensemble exclusively devoted to performing orchestral arrangements of video game music and using that music as an educational tool. The orchestra began humbly in late 2005 with six members and now boasts a roster of more than 110 musicians, including 30 singers. Last spring, the GSO performed at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, in conjunction with The Art of Video Games exhibition.
