Artist Partner Programs
The Artist Partner Program at The Clarice is dedicated to building the future of the arts by training, mentoring and presenting the next generation of artists and creative innovators. Our programs are dedicated to creating performance and education opportunities for our students and our community through artist residencies, workshops, master classes, K-12 student matinees and artistic exchange. We believe artists can be catalysts for community change, leadership and empowerment. As part of a major public research university, the Artist Partner Programs is committed to the creation and investigation of new work and new ways of participating in the performing arts.
Visiting Artist Series
The Visiting Artist Series at The Clarice curates a multi-arts performance series with regional, national and international artists and creative innovators. Through performances on stage, extensive campus and community engagement programs, creation residencies and a commitment to commissioning new work, the Visiting Artist Series creates exciting connections and opportunities for our students and community to participate and engage in a world of discovery and exploration. The Visiting Artist Series presents chamber music, recitals, global music, jazz, contemporary theater, contemporary dance and special events.
In keeping with The Clarice’s commitment to the creation and investigation of new work and new ways of participating in the performing arts, the Artist Partner Program supports creation residencies for artists seeking space and production expertise to make new work in collaboration with UMD students and faculty. Projects are chosen based on subject matter connected to contemporary social issues relevant to Clarice audiences or the larger world, and interest and relevance to the learning goals of University of Maryland students. Past participants have included choreographers Camille A. Brown and Nichole Canuso, and theatre artists Alan Lucien Øyen (Winter Guests) and The Civilians.
