The UMD Symphony Orchestra and UMD Wind Orchestra combine for this annual concert featuring members of the graduate conducting studios. Each conductor selects the piece they want to perform and leads the ensemble in rehearsals. This year’s performance features Mozart’s monumental “Gran Partita,” Brahms’ Tragic Overture, selections from Puccini’s La bohème and Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Led by Michael Votta, Jr., UMWO is a leader among collegiate ensembles in premiering new works for winds. This season’s engaging performances will feature faculty soloists, commissions and masterworks of the 20th and 21st centuries.
