Artistic Operations Assistant, NOI+F

Description

The Summer Staff for the National Orchestral Institute + Festival works closely with the festival director and Clarice administration to assist with the daily functions of the festival. Duties vary and include assisting with logistical support for the NOI+F orchestras and numerous chamber ensembles, as well as assisting with faculty and artists’ hospitality.  

Primary Duties

As part of the Artistic Operations team at NOI+F, the Assistant will staff the headquarters desk  and provide information to festival participants and faculty in a friendly and professional manner on a rotational schedule with other festival summer staff. They will assist  festival administration with distributing logistical information to festival participants, faculty and artists and direct participants to the appropriate festival administrator as necessary. They will transport faculty, artists and occasionally students to festival venues including performing spaces, offsite engagements, and hotel accommodations using a 12-passenger van (12-passenger van driving training will be provided). They will also keep dressing, green rooms and backstage areas clean and well maintained, prepare green rooms for artists with hospitality items and keep the items refreshed on a daily basis and assist with purchasing supplies at grocery and other stores using the approved UMD purchasing card, as well as transportation of festival participants to local stores for supplies. They will provide general assistance during orchestra rehearsals and concerts to the conductor, festival participants, artists and administration staff, help to assemble and break down spaces for NOI+F  social events and other maintenance aspects and provide staff support during NOI+F engagement events. They will provide other administrative support, such as making copies of documents/music, as requested.

Requirements

Background in classical music, the arts, or school administration is preferred. Excellent customer service, organizational and administrative skills, and capability to multi-task is required. Candidates must be positive, flexible, willing, motivated and quick to learn in a faced paced environment as job requirements will vary from day to day. Driver’s license with a good-standing driving record is required. Candidates will be required to drive a 12-passenger van, for which NOI+F will provide training. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Duration

Duties will begin on Wednesday, May 24th with training and will conclude on Monday July 3, 2023. Artistic Operations Assistants should plan to work up to 20 hours of work per week. This includes a varied work schedule throughout the festival including evenings and weekends, in addition to daily work.
