Fernando Merchan is the Business Manager at the Clarice Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland. As Business Manager, Fernando is responsible for the execution of day-to-day financial and administrative functions for the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, including but not limited to accounts payable, procurement, reporting, and grants management.

Fernando came to the Clarice from Grant Thornton a top 10 Public Accounting firm where he audited pension benefit plans and performed plan asset evaluations. He also served as a Business Manager at the Robert H. Smith School of Business from 2014-2016.

Fernando received his MA in accounting with a focus in Public Accounting from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He received his BA from Seton Hall University. While at Seton Hall University he became a member of La Unidad Latina Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. He is also a CPA candidate.

Fernando is a proud native New Yorker born and raised in Harlem. He is an avid sports fan who supports the Yankees, Knicks, Giants, Rangers, Arsenal, Red Bulls and Seton Hall basketball. He is also a blue belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu. Fernando is married and is the proud father of 2 sons, Gabriel and Adrian.
