Pointless Theatre presents two world-premiere puppet spectacles developed as part of their yearlong workshop process.

In Nom-noms, an imaginative world of food is brought to life through a variety of styles of puppetry as a community struggles to reach the most delectable goal imaginable. Join a group of scouts through a magical menagerie in Famous Birds, an immersive experimentation in shadow puppetry inspired by classic cartoons.

Comprising alumni of the UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, Pointless Theatre is smashing traditional boundaries of how a work of theatre is developed through its innovative devising process. Two teams made up of one writer, one designer and one director team up to create a unique idea and realize the process over the course of the year. Over the summer of 2014, these works will be rehearsed and performed in Pointless’ unique style that blends puppetry, theatre, dance, music and the visual arts. Join the artists for a works-in-progress showing, after which you’ll have a chance to ask questions about the works and engage in formative conversations as the pieces continue to be developed. These puppet spectacles contain profanity and may not be suitable for children.
