Students and faculty join together for a performance of Bach’s Magnificat, also known as the Song of Mary or Canticle of Mary. Bach first composed a version for Christmas in 1723 and then reworked that music ten years later for the Feast of the Visitation. The Latin text is the canticle of Mary, mother of Jesus, as told in the Gospel of Luke.

School of Music faculty members James Stern, Mark Hill and Kenneth Slowik are featured in concerti by Bach and Telemann. Stern and Hill perform Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe in D minor, and Slowik performs Telemann’s Overture in D Major for viola da gamba and strings.

Proceeds from Music in Mind concerts benefit the School of Music’s undergraduate scholarship fund.
