Experience a collection of work choreographed and danced by undergraduate and graduate students from the UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. The program includes the premiere of a commissioned work by Sinclair Ogaga Emoghene, the recipient of this year’s NextNOW Fest Alumni Dance Commission. 

This performance is a part of the NextNOW Fest Alumni Commissioning Project, which supports the creation of new work by alumni of the UMD School of Music and the UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies.

Sinclair Ogaga Emoghene – Love/Peace – bad names!

Sinclair Ogaga Emoghene earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin, and subsequently, an M.F.A. in Dance Performance and Choreography from UMD. He is the artistic director of WXYZ Arts Factor in Benin City, Nigeria. Emoghene’s work spans film, concert and the stage, often incorporating unconventional spaces and movements. He was commissioned to choreograph the first acclaimed Nigerian dance movie, I'll Take My Chances, which premiered in 2011. Emoghene has taught and presented at The Clarice, and in various Nigerian venues such as The University of Lagos, University of Benin, University of Jos Open Air Theatre, Jos Repertory Theatre and The Edo State Arts Council.
