An innocent boy, son to a family of goat herders, is found to be heir to the kingdom. Riches and luxury are laid at his feet, but at what cost to others?

This world premiere musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde's “The Young King,” by Martin Hennessy with libretto by Tom Rowan, addresses human rights and social justice issues directly relevant to contemporary wealth and income inequality struggles. Performed by Maryland Opera Studio (MOS) artists.

Hennessy is the winner of the inaugural Opera Composition Contest, a joint effort between MOS and the Artist Partner Program to support the cultivation and performance of new work.
