August 25, 2012 – College Park, MD – Through dance, music and text, SITI Company weaves longing, lust, lost love, found love and budding romantic adventure in its Café Variations, September 20-21 at 8:00 p.m. in the Center’s intimate Kogod Theatre. Based on short plays by Charles Mee, this new work takes place in a lively café and features both charming and philosophical stories set to Gershwin songs from the Great American Songbook— familiar tunes that evoke a time, place and way of life. As the Boston Globe described it, Café Variations is “unabashedly romantic … a series of vivid and visceral explorations of life, love and identity [that] cast Gershwin classics in a new light.” Each story stands on its own and, together, the stories create a rich narrative that celebrates the possibilities of life fully and fearlessly embraced.
