Creative Opportunities

The Clarice is building the future of the arts by training, mentoring and presenting the next generation of artists and creative innovators. As artists develop their craft as performers, so, too, must they develop their craft as instigators of meaningful dialogue and creative research. As well, it is important for artists to understand the important link they have to audiences in order for their work to be contextualized and presented in the most effective manner, and with no barriers to a stimulating experience. The Clarice supports artists in their quest for a connection with audiences through its engagement work.

This support happens by illustrating and animating the creative process with activities both on the UMD campus and in our creative radius. The Clarice provides context for the issues addressed through the artistic work of its partners by encouraging a rigorous exchange of ideas and active participation between artists and audiences. Engagement at The Clarice is characterized by facilitated audience interactions with artists, scholars, and community leaders that are focused on process and research rather than product and performance.
