Martinez-Urioste-Brey Trio Performs Beethoven, Arensky and Ravel, November 1 at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

October 25, 2012College Park, MD – Cellist Carter Brey, violinist Elena Urioste and pianist Gabriela Martinez will perform works by Beethoven, Arensky and Ravel in their first trio appearance at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, November 1 at 8 p.m. The concert will take place in the Center’s intimate 297-seat Gildenhorn Recital Hall.

About the Martinez-Urioste-Brey Trio

The artists — each of whom has a wealth of musical experience and numerous accolades — formed as a chamber trio in the summer of 2011 and within days were invited to perform at the 2012 Ravinia Festival.

Brey, the 1981 prizewinner in the Rostropovich International Cello Competition, has also received the Gregor Piatigorsky Memorial Prize, an Avery Fisher Career Grant and Young Concert Artists’ Michaels Award. Martinez is a prizewinner in the Anton G. Rubinstein and Van Cliburn international piano competitions and Urioste is a two-time laureate of the Sphinx Competition, which recognizes exceptional talent among young musicians from Black and Latin communities.
