The Roshan Institute for Persian Studies at UMD is excited to host an extraordinary artist, Lily Afshar, a true citizen of the world. Acclaimed as "one of the world's foremost classical guitarists" according to Public Radio International, Lily Afshar is a virtuosa who brings passion to her performance. Her unique life story finds expression in her art.

The Wizard of Oz in Concert

After a tornado whisks away a young Kansas farm girl, Dorothy, to the magical land of Oz, she starts her quest to find the mighty Wizard of Oz who has the power to send her home. Along the way she meets a Scarecrow, a Tin Woodsman and a Cowardly Lion who help her on her journey, as well as a couple of witches and some munchkins!
