Join percussion faculty member Dr. Lee Hinkle and his guests for an evening of unusual beats and funky rhythms.

The performance will feature a world-premiere composition by doctoral student composer and beat-maker Geoff Sheil for saxophone, marimba and beat boxer. Other hip songs will include Philippe Hurel’s monumental jazz-influenced work À bâton rompus for saxophone and percussion; John Fitz Rogers’ soothing jam Release for saxophone and marimba; some sax duets to rock your socks off; Bruce Hamilton’s Motion Stasis, a drum set solo with pre-recorded loops in the manner of John Bonham; Stuart Saunders Smith’s Lazarus, a story with some music played on a vibraphone; and an epic djembe tribal groove trio by Iannis Xenakis called Okho.
