Maryland Opera Studio (MOS) presents The Cunning Little Vixen. Inspired by a comic strip and originally titled Adventures of Vixen Sharp-Ears, this Leoš Janáček composed opera is filled with beautifully fluid music featuring Moravian folk elements. A comic tale of a cunning female fox (a vixen), this Czech opera details her tragic adventures through captivity and back into the wild that ultimately lead to her demise. Featuring a colorful cast of forest animals and human characters, this is a captivating story of the hunted versus the hunter and the continuous cycle of life.

Sung in Czech with English supertitles.

Under the direction of Craig Kier, the MOS is dedicated to the future of opera. Preparing the next generation of great singers and offering performances ranging from classic repertoire to provocative new works, they are building audiences and advancing the art that sustains them.

In addition to the MOS singers, this performance features undergraduate students from UMD Choral Activities and M.F.A. design students from the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies.
