Nichole Canuso Dance: The Garden
A site-specific, audience-participation dance experience performed for a maximum of four audience members at a time, The Garden has been crafted specifically for the space at The Clarice.
Individualized sound scores accompany participants through the terrain of the performance for a sprawling exploration of possibilities on the smallest of scales.

Your experience will last 45 minutes. Your experience will be unlike those of the six people you began your journey with, and it will be unlike that of anyone who came before or will come after you. This is The Garden, an experiential dance theatre piece produced by the Nichole Canuso Dance Company.

The Garden is a happening; it is a performed installation; it is site-specific theater; it is a line dance with all the participants in different rooms. It is an odd social event with all the awkwardness and delight that comes with making prolonged eye contact with strangers.

Eventually you find yourself in a room with Nichole Canuso, and that’s a bizarre experience. On the one hand she’s a child, no taller than my chin and young enough to be my daughter. On the other hand she is a mother figure, the all-wise expert of dance who created the very world we’re in.
