Clarice Smith, Artist and Partner

Clarice Smith, a native of Washington DC, attended the University of Maryland and received a BA and MFA from George Washington University, where she was also a member of the Art Department faculty from 1980-1987.

Smith has been painting professionally for 35 years and has had numerous solo exhibitions in prestigious galleries in the United States and abroad.

Known as an artist who responds clearly and absolutely to her own surroundings, she creates a world through paint that is at the same time tangible and distant, familiar yet disquieting, communal but highly personal.

She is represented by the Gerald Peters Gallery in New York City, and was previously represented by the Kennedy Galleries in New York City.
