Mike Edelman joined the production team at The Clarice in 2011 following a career spanning New York, Massachusetts, Florida and North Carolina. As a Production Coordinator he has been responsible for over 200 events at The Clarice including Water is Rising, Fortune's Bones, Branford Marsalis, Mavis Staples and Bobby McFerrin & Chick Corea.

Prior to 2011, Mike lived in New York City and worked backstage at such venues as Brooklyn Academy of Music, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center.

“I always loved taking things apart to see how they work. I started playing music in high school and was immediately intrigued about what goes on backstage. How does it all work, how does it get put together? Playing onstage or advancing the show, the goal is the same — a great event.”

In addition to working at The Clarice, Mike continues to tour the world as a freelance production manager and technical director. While at home, he serves on the board of the Riverdale Park Arts Council, helping to organize arts events in his community.

Mike holds a MM degree (jazz guitar) from the University of South Florida. He lives with his wife and daughter in Riverdale Park, MD.

What is your favorite performance that you've seen at The Clarice?

It's been hard to beat McCoy Tyner Trio at the Kapell Piano Festival in 2003. A really powerful experience — it hit at such an impressionable age and my first time stepping foot inside The Clarice.
